Famed Vegas Mobster Dead at 79: Was Inspiration for Film "Mob on the Run"

A famed mobster who once ran the Stardust, Hacienda, Fremont, and Mariana hotel and casinos in Las Vegas has died at the age of 79.

Allen Glick was the inspiration for the documentary film "Mob on the Run" (watch below)

Glick, a one-time attorney, had as his right man at the casinos a convicted sports fixer with lifelong mob ties.  That man was none other than the notorious Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal.

George Knapp, reporting for Oklahoma's KFOR news, writes:

In reality though, Rosenthal didn’t report to Glick. He reported directly to the head of the Chicago outfit, as detailed in a groundbreaking 1987 television documentary “Mob on the Run”. The original “Mob on the Run” documentary was produced by former KLAS-TV investigative reporter Ned Day and former KLAS-TV news director Bob Stoldal.

Glick, who was never charged for his dealings with the Mob, died in his San Diego home of cancer.
