With his win at the 2012 WPT Cypress Classic this week, poker pro Marvin Rettenmaier has made history.

Rettenmaier won the WPT Championship in May to end Season X and, with his victory in the WPT Cyprus Classic to kick off Season XI, becomes the first player to win back-to-back tournaments in the history of the WPT, Poker News Daily noted

To date, Germany’s Rettenmaier has won just over $2.5 million, much of that within the past 12 months, and has a total of 42 cashes, including 6 first place finishes.

His run this year has been nothing short of amazing with 10 tournament cashes and close to $2 million won over that time period.

The final tally from the WPT Cypress Classic:

1. Marvin Rettenmaier, $287,784

2. Artur Voskanyan, $184,020

3. Ran Azor, $118,360

4. Victor Parashiv, $87,610

5. Joseph El Khoury, $65,770

6. Kiryl Radzivonau, $52,590
