Zynga Gets Bids to Offer ‘Real Cash’ Online Poker

GTECH G2 and Playtech confirmed to have submitted bids to provide the social giant Zynga Poker with a real cash online poker platform, according to eGaming Review Magazine Monday.

Poker Pro Michael MIzrachi Accuses Giorgio Medici of Welching on WSOP Side Bet

Poker pro Michael Mizrachi has accused fellow player Giorgio Medici of refusing to pay on a World Series of Poker bracelet bet. 

Mizrachi posted a series of Twitter messages claiming that Medici has said he is now filing for bankruptcy and is unable to pay the said side bet.

He also noted that Medici has allegedly behaved in such a matter in the past.

PokerStars Macau Announces Final Two Special Asia “Player of the Year” Festivals in 2012

MACAU, CHINA – July 20 – PokerStars Macau today announced that it has added two more special events to the 2012 Asia Player of the Year season. The Macau Poker Cup Championship (MPCC) will take place from September 7-16, while the inaugural APPT: Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) is scheduled for October 26 to November 11. Both events will be held at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex.

The Macau Poker Cup Championship (MPCC) is the annual finale for Asia’s premier poker series and will feature a HKD $20,000 buy-in Main Event that has a HKD $4.5 million guarantee.

Ring Fencing Policy at iPoker Network Clarified

The world’s 3rd largest online poker network (and sometimes 2nd as a result of alternating positions with rival PartyPoker), iPoker, has attempted to clarify its policy on ring-fencing for its dozens of online poker skins.

Individual skins will be subject to “partial” ring-fencing should they fail to meet predetermined performance criteria.

Churchill Downs Applies for Online Poker License

Kentucky’s Churchill Downs is the latest entity to apply for an online poker license in the state of Nevada.

The Silver State became the first to legalize online poker late last year and has been accepting applications over the past few months. 

Churchill Downs, which currently offers legalized horse betting on the Web, already signaled its interest in offering Internet poker after purchasing the media venture Bluff Magazine earlier in the year.

If approved, Churchill Downs would be permitted to offer legal “real money” online poker within the state of Nevada.

Defendant in ‘Blue Monday’ Online Gambling Indictment Sentencing Sealed

No word yet on the fate of Darren Wright, the 43-year-old head of defunct online gambling company BetED.com and ThrillX.

Wright was caught up in a sting operation organized by the US Attorneys Office in Baltimore resulting in charges of money laundering and aiding and abetting of an online gambling business back in May of last year.  The investigation took place over a nearly two-year period.

The excitement overnight could not have been overstated as two females were vying for a spot among the World Series of Poker Final Table.  No woman has made the Final Table in 17 years since Barbara Enright in 1995.

Gaelle Baumann of France just missed becoming the first woman to ever make the Final Table of a World Series of Poker Main Event.  She was eliminated in 10th place at around 3:30 am EST.

Elisabeth Hille of Norway made an amazing run, busting at number 10 and walking off with $590,442 but failing to make the Final Table of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event.

This would have been the furthest a woman had ever come in the Main Event if not for the fact that Frenchwoman Gaelle Baumann was still among the final 10.  Hille busted just before Midnight.
